Don’t miss this special screening of one of the best black British films from Artist and Director Isaac Julien CBE RA.
Young Soul Rebels is set in the days before the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, focusing on the turbulent lives of DJs Chris and Caz following the death of a close friend. With the black community suspecting the National Front and the police pulling Chris in as a suspect, this story navigates the complex lives of young black men in 1970s London and the prejudices they faced.
This beautifully crafted piece from Isaac Julien paints a convincing picture of late-’70s London. The city is a carefully mapped-out social landscape, open to all but offering safety to none.
